We’re a stakeholder-led business
As a stakeholder-led business, we are constantly striving to meet the needs of our stakeholders and customers through collaboration, advocacy, and engagement, as we progress towards the pathway to NetZero.
Who are AccountAbility?
AccountAbility are a global consulting and standards firm and in 2015 they produced the AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard. It is now considered the ‘gold standard’ in stakeholder engagement accreditation.
The AA1000 Series of Standards represent a principles-based framework, used globally by businesses to demonstrate leadership and performance in accountability, responsibility, and sustainability. SSEN Transmission engages with stakeholders in line with AccountAbility’s AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard.
Achieving the AccountAbility AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard
Our AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard score as of April 2024 is 88% with a top-tier rating of “Advanced" in the AccountAbility Stakeholder Engagement Maturity Ladder.
This is a 3% increase on our 2023 score and demonstrates our commitment to continuously improving our stakeholder engagement practice. Alongside this, we are now sitting in the “Advanced” category in all six of Accountability’s pillars of stakeholder engagement, which is also an increase from last year’s performance.
We’re continuously improving
Our AccountAbility Healthcheck 2024 scorecard notes that “SSEN Transmission shows a strong and continued commitment to the AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard, demonstrating a consistent effort to improve engagement practices with both internal and external stakeholders.”
Our aim, through this annual AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard healthcheck, is to align our stakeholder-led engagement principles with Accountability's principles of ‘Inclusivity’, ‘Materiality’, ‘Responsiveness' and 'Impact' to ensure we are inclusive of our diverse range of stakeholders, as well as their issues and feedback.
