Our Local Community Benefit Funds

Our local funds are dedicated to communities situated close to our transmission infrastructure. Each fund is unique, being developed specifically with local communities to ensure that local priorities are supported.  

Subject to UK Government guidance and approval from Ofgem, we anticipate that the value of future community funds could be in excess of £100m. In advance of this guidance, we are launching four preliminary local funds. You can find out more about each specific fund below.

  • East Coast 400kV Overhead Line Upgrade

    Now open and accepting applications

    Grants of up to £5,000 are available for projects that support the improvement of health and wellbeing in communities across Aberdeenshire, Angus, Perth and Kinross, and the north east of Clackmannanshire.
  • Eastern Green Link 2

    Opening in 2025

    The Eastern Green Link 2 project will connect Peterhead in Aberdeenshire and Drax in North Yorkshire via an electrical cable link. More information on this fund will be available soon and you can register for updates using the form linked below. 
  • Shetland HVDC Link

    Opening in 2025

    The Shetland HVDC 260km subsea link connects Shetland to the mainland just north of Wick, securing power in Shetland for future generations. More information on this fund will be available soon.
  • Inveraray - Crossaig 275kV Overhead Line

    Opening in 2025

    The Inveraray - Crossaig 275kV Overhead Line upgrade in Argyll and Bute replaces the original 1950s line which had reached the end of its operational life. More information on this fund will be available soon.
