SSEN opens Energy Efficiency and Heat and Electric Vehicles Consultations

The transmission business of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has today launched consultations on the future of Electric Vehicles and Energy Efficiency & Heat in the north of Scotland.

The two consultations are the latest in a series of research papers to help inform the Future Energy Scenario (FES) work being undertaken by SSEN to help it prepare its transmission  network for the future.  As part of its preparation for the next transmission business plan, SSEN  is consulting and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to seek views on what network requirements and challenges it needs to prepare for and consider for the next expected RIIO-T2 price control period from 2021 – 2029.

Imran Mohammed, Senior Business Insight Analyst, is leading on the FES work. He explains more:

“Feedback from industry, customers and stakeholders will be vital to help us prepare and plan for our future network needs. The responses to our Energy Trends and the Future of Onshore Wind Repowering papers have provided invaluable information so far which will help us to continue to deliver a robust, efficient and resilient future network for the communities in which we serve.

“We look forward to receiving further feedback through the Energy Efficiency & Heat and Electric Vehicle consultations to help us analyse what our future requirements may be in these topic areas from 2021 onwards.”

Comments and feedback on both papers are encouraged by midnight on 26 January 2018.

A further and final FES paper on Generation and Storage is planned for publication early next year. SSEN will formally present all of the FES outcomes and learnings in Spring 2018 following thorough feedback and analysis.
