Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is encouraging the local community to provide feedback on their proposals to upgrade the existing substation at Fort Augustus.
Following on from events last year, SSEN hosted a further event at Fort Augustus Village Hall on Wednesday (19th) to share and discuss the updated plans for the substation. The event was well attended and consisted of information boards and a virtual flythrough video of the substation. Members of the project team were also on hand to answer any questions.
SSEN is proposing to reinforce the existing Fort Augustus substation through the installation of new buildings and equipment. This work will enable local renewable generation to connect to the transmission network.
Joyce Wilson, Project Manager for SSEN explains: “We have refined our proposals following discussions with the local community during events last year. I would like to thank all of those who attended our latest event on Wednesday to discuss our updated plans.
“We have now submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to The Highland Council and would encourage those who did not manage to attend the event to provide their comments either online or via post.”
Details on the proposals, the virtual flythrough video and the online feedback form can be found on the dedicated project page.
The consultation will remain open for responses until Friday 1st September 2017.
