SSEN Transmission this week (Wednesday) hosted its inaugural RIIO-T2 stakeholder engagement event in Glasgow to seek external feedback on our progress and priorities as we pull together a draft business plan for consultation later next year. The interactive event, which welcomed 75 external delegates ranging from consumer groups, government, network users, fellow network operators, generators and industry groups, invited attendees to find out further information about SSEN’s RIIO-T2 work steam and share views on our future network focus.

David Gardner, Director of Transmission, kicked off the day by providing an overview of our business and our vision for the next Price Control. David was followed by our Guest Speaker, Simon Gill from the Scottish Government, who discussed the role of electricity networks in the delivery of a whole system approach, as outlined in the Scottish Government’s Scottish Energy Strategy.

The event then covered four interactive sessions including stakeholder engagement, sustainability, environment and innovation and encouraged electronic feedback via live online voting along with a lively Q&A session to discuss our future strategies and policies in these four areas.

After the event, David Gardner, Director of Transmission stated:

“We would like to thank all attendees who came along to our RIIO-T2 stakeholder engagement event and shared valuable feedback as we work to pull together a draft business plan which will guide our business from 2021 onwards. The event was a huge success due to the wide levels of participation that we received and all views shared on the day will be used to directly influence and shape our future network moving forwards.

“As we prepare for our future network, and the challenges and opportunities that it brings, we will continue to engage with all of our key stakeholders to deliver a plan that has our customers, network users and consumers at the very heart of it.”
