SSEN encourages local community to attend drop-in events
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is hosting a series of drop-in consultation events across North Argyll next week regarding its proposed electricity transmission reinforcements in the region.
SSEN has been developing proposals to reinforce the transmission network in North Argyll, including new infrastructure between Dalmally and Creag Dbubh, to enable the connection of new renewable generation across the region. The timing of, and requirement for, the network reinforcement is dependent on contracted renewable developers proceeding with their developments.
A series of drop-in consultation events are being held across the region and will give attendees the opportunity to view and provide feedback on SSEN’s latest proposals for the preferred location of the new ‘Creag Dhubh’ substation (formally known as North Argyll) and the proposed alignment of the new 275kV line between Creag Dhubh and Dalmally.
As the project is still in its early stages, the consultation events also present an opportunity for the local community to shape the development of the project.
Lead Project Manager, Jean Lewis, said:
“Our proposals to reinforce the network in North Argyll have been developed based on a balance of environmental, technical and economic considerations. These plans are still at an early stage of development and, as a responsible developer, we are committed to working with the local community and other interested stakeholders through an open and comprehensive consultation process.
“Any views or concerns raised by the local community will be considered seriously as part of the ongoing development of the project and we would encourage anyone in the area with an interest in the project to come along to speak to us and learn more about the proposals.”
Events of the consultation dates and locations are as follows:
Mon 19 March Dalmally Community Centre 2pm – 7pm
Tue 20 March Kilchrenan Village Hall 2pm – 7pm
Wed 21 March Portsonachan Village Hall 2pm – 7pm
Thu 22 March Taynuilt Village Hall 2pm – 7pm
