Recruiting members for our RIIO-T2 User Group – can you help to shape our future network ambitions?

Shirley Robertson, Head of Business Sustainability, explains what skills and expertise are required to help shape SSEN’s 2021-2026 business plan.

As we prepare for the next electricity transmission price control period (RIIO-T2), from 2021 onwards, our newly created RIIO-T2 User Group will play a key role in scrutinising and providing independent expert challenge to the development and delivery of our business plan. Through detailed engagement with SHE Transmission business experts, the User Group’s feedback will directly shape how we plan to meet customers’ needs from the north of Scotland transmission network from 2021 onwards.

It’s an exciting time in the energy industry in the north of Scotland. The renewables revolution is well underway, and we look forward to continuing decarbonisation of energy, heat and transport over the next decade. Customers and communities are embracing this revolution and asking for more responsive, collaborative network development. And, at the core of running an electricity network, is maintaining that constant reliable supply of electricity to our increasingly power-dependent society and economy.

Having recently appointed Tracey Barlow as independent chair of the User Group, our focus now moves to recruitment of the User Group members that will play such an important role in guiding our future network plans.

In her role, Tracey will lead fellow members of the User Group, which will be made up of independent individuals who are representative of network users and stakeholders such as generators, landowners, communities and energy users, and with specialist interest in the development of the transmission network in the north of Scotland. We are currently advertising for applicants and we are inviting interested and qualified parties to get in touch.

It's an excellent opportunity to make your voice heard in an influential role that will shape the future energy sector in the north of Scotland for all households, communities and businesses. If you have the skills, expertise and insight, and would relish the opportunity to input into and challenge our future ambitions, you can apply to be a member of the User Group here: http://www.ssejobs.co.uk/caw/en/job/517082/panel-board-members-transmission

The closing date for applications is 23 July 2018.
