Public Consultation materials are now on display at Balallan

Following the success of its Public Consultation at Stornoway last week, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has put its exhibition materials on extended display in Balallan at the Kinloch Historical Society.

Last Tuesday’s event in Stornoway’s Caberfeidh Hotel saw members of the local community meet the team behind SSEN’s plans for a new transmission switching substation at Balallan and replacement overhead lines between Stornoway and Balallan. Following on from the success of the event, and to ensure as many customers as possible get the chance to learn about the company’s proposals, SSEN is now putting all of the materials from the public consultation on display upstairs at the Kinloch Historical Society for the next five weeks.

Speaking after the event　 Lisa Marchi - Grey, SSEN’s Community Liaison Manager, said: "The Public Consultation in Stornoway was a great chance for　us to meet members of the local community, share our plans and hear their views on the proposals. We had over 20 visitors to this event, but we appreciate that there may be others who couldn’t make it along, and so we have put all of our exhibition boards, booklets and feedback forms in Kinloch Historical Society, and are encouraging anyone with an interest in our project to visit and let us know their views. I’d like to thank the Kinloch Historical Society for displaying the exhibition materials and helping us ensure that as many people as possible get the chance to learn more about our plans."

The exhibition materials can be viewed upstairs at The Old School in Balallan until Friday, 26 October.
