Perth-based energy firm SSEN Transmission has been shortlisted for two prizes at the prestigious 2021 Utility Week Awards, a national platform showcasing the best in the energy industry across the UK.

The firm, responsible for connecting and transporting renewable electricity across the north of Scotland, has been nominated in the Net Zero Award and Utility of The Year Categories, which will see them go head-to-head against some of the biggest names in the industry later this year.

As the world gathers in Glasgow for COP26, the announcement of the nominations underlines SSEN Transmission’s commitment to delivering a network for Net Zero and the critical role it plays in the transition to a low carbon future.  The firm is responsible for developing, building, maintaining and operating a network which can transport huge quantities of clean, green renewable power over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.

SSEN Transmission’s Managing Director, Rob McDonald praised the teams for their efforts:

“Tackling the climate emergency and delivering a network for net zero are at the heart of our business and I’m delighted we have been shortlisted for two Utility Week Awards in categories particularly close to our hearts.

“Our teams right across the business are working so hard to deliver a network for net zero and it’s great to see their efforts recognised with these nominations and we’re looking forward to joining others in the sector at the awards ceremony in December this year.”

The Utility Week Awards, hosted by trade publication Utility Week, will be announced in London on 13 December 2021.
