SSEN Transmission invites you to share your views on plans to upgrade the East Coast 132kV transmission network

On 25 February SSEN Transmission will host two online consultation events to engage with stakeholders on its proposals to upgrade the East Coast 132kV Transmission Network.

The new proposals are part of a wider plan to upgrade the existing electricity transmission infrastructure across the North East and East Coast of Scotland to enable the connection of new renewable generation to the GB transmission network, helping to facilitate the transition to net zero emissions.

At the online event SSEN Transmission will be seeking feedback on its proposals to upgrade the existing East Coast 132kV Transmission Network which currently runs between the Craigiebuckler / Tarland overhead line (OHL) Tee point, West of Aberdeen and the Tealing substation, North of Dundee. Visitors will be able to find out more about the need for the upgrade and be able to share their views on SSEN Transmission’s preferred route corridor for a replacement 132kV overhead line between the existing Brechin and Tealing substations, proposed as part of the upgrade.

To facilitate the consultation events SSEN Transmission has developed an online consultation tool, to enable the local community to experience the full exhibition from home on a computer, tablet or mobile device, whilst maintaining Government guidance on social distancing. The online exhibition has been designed to look and feel like a real consultation in a community hall, with exhibition boards and maps, and the opportunity to share views on the proposals.

Project Manager Gayle Bennie said: “As a responsible developer we want to keep the local community updated on our proposals, and we are also keen to hear their views on our plans and listen to their feedback.”
