SSEN Transmission seeking feedback on plans to replace the Dunoon transmission line

SSEN Transmission invites local stakeholders to join one of its online consultation events to share feedback on proposals to replace the existing overhead transmission line between Dunoon Substation and Garelochhead.

The current line was constructed in the early 1970’s and after a long service it is now reaching the end of its operational life and its replacement is required to maintain network reliability and security of supply to homes and businesses along its route.

This is the second phase of consultation following consultation events held in November 2020, where SSEN Transmission sought feedback on a proposed route corridor for the replacement line. The feedback received was vital in helping shape the next stage of development and the identification of the preferred route corridor. SSEN Transmission is now seeking feedback on the proposed route alignment for the Dunoon 132kV Overhead Line Rebuild Project.

Commenting on the events, Graham Reid Project Manager, said:

“The replacement of Dunoon to Garelochhead overhead line is an essential project, representing a major investment in the area, which is critical to maintain network reliability and security of supply of in the area.

“As a responsible developer, we look forward to continuing to work constructively with our stakeholders as we continue to develop our proposals and would encourage anyone who is interested in finding out more about our plans to come along to one of the virtual consultation sessions to provide their feedback.”

The virtual consultation exhibitions are part of a five week long consultation and have been designed to be fully interactive, allowing for presentation of key project information and plans. The virtual consultation room will be available to view throughout the consultation and in addition to this there will be chat sessions which provide an opportunity to engage directly with the project team via instant message chat. The virtual consultation portal, the consultation brochure, other supporting documents and feedback forms can be accessed on the project webpage: www.ssen-transmission.co.uk/projects/dunoon

In addition to the virtual consultation platform, the project team will be available to engage via post, email and telephone, to ensure stakeholders can provide feedback in a manner most suitable to them.

The virtual consultation events will be taking place as follows:

  • 25th August  10.00 – 13.00
  • 26th August  17.00 – 19.00
  • 8th September  17.00 – 19.00
