We note and welcome today’s publication of the UK Government’s Energy Security Strategy, which confirms the requirement for accelerated and timely investment in the GB transmission network to support Net Zero and energy security goals.

In response, Rob McDonald, Managing Director of SSEN Transmission stated:

“Accelerating timely investment in the transmission network, at scale and pace, will be critical to achieving the UK’s green energy and security ambitions. We’re therefore delighted that this has been formally recognised and supported within the UK Government’s Energy Security Strategy today.

“As we deliver a network for net zero, unlocking the full potential of the North of Scotland’s abundant renewable energy resource and delivering it to where it is needed all across GB, we will continue to work with the UK and Scottish Governments, Ofgem and our wider stakeholders to support delivery of the strategy and maximise the socio-economic opportunities presented for our collective low carbon future.”
