  • SSEN Transmission’s HR team take home People and Culture Prize at Scottish Renewables’ Net Zero Energy Transition Awards

SSEN Transmission’s Human Resources team were delighted to walk away with the top prize in the People and Culture category at the first ever Scottish Renewables Net Zero Energy Transition Awards.

The prize, sponsored by the ECITB, was presented to the team last week at the debut Scottish Renewable Net Zero Energy Transition Awards in Aberdeen, which were set up to celebrate those working to deliver the energy transition across the country.

The People and Culture Award recognises the people and programmes which strive to create an inclusive, diverse and motivated workforce as well as championing a positive and progressive culture as the industry moves to adapt to the needs of the energy transition.

SSEN Transmission’s dedicated HR team scooped the top prize in recognition of their huge efforts to creating an inclusive and engaged workforce.  Recently they have implemented a reverse mentoring programme, a new Inclusion and Diversity forum, employee recognition scheme, workforce planning, new leadership development programmes amongst plenty of other initiatives to attract and retain a great team to deliver net zero.

Allie Walker, SSEN Transmission HR Business Partner said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to win the first ever People and Culture Award at this year’s Scottish Renewables Net Zero Energy Transition Awards.

“The whole team have worked extensively to ensure we place people at the centre of our business, and the initiatives we have created to ensure this is upheld will help to pave the way to creating a workforce that is engaged, inclusive and working together as we deliver a network for net zero.

“This award is a real recognition of the huge amount of work they have carried out, and I’m immensely proud of them and all they have achieved.”

SSEN Transmission was also nominated for the Best Practice Award for their sector-leading work on the adoption of SF6 alternatives, including the co-creation of a new strategy for avoiding the use of SF6 gas on its network.  Sulphur hexafluoride, or SF6, is a gas used extensively in the electrical industry for its insulating properties, but it is 23,500 times more harmful to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide.
