Watch: 120 tonne transformer unit arrive at Alyth Substation
Earlier this year our huge static compensator transformer unit – weighing around 120 tonnes – arrived at Alyth substation! The transformer is one of the largest components of the 275/400kV substation project, and plays a key role in enabling and managing the flow of energy through the substation and overall network, helping to accommodate increased renewable energy generation from across the north of Scotland.
The highly complex delivery followed nearly two years of planning by SSEN Transmission and their principal contractor Siemens BAM.
Check out how we worked with specialist haulier Allelys to safely deliver the transformer from Dundee Quay to its final location at Alyth substation.
