Green-fingered volunteers from SSEN Transmission were out in force in Beauly over the summer, as they helped tidy up some green spaces in the Highland village.

The 20 volunteers from the company’s Offshore HVDC Engineering team spent a day sprucing up a local memorial garden at the request of the local community council, before moving on to a garden area near a sheltered housing complex.

SSEN Transmission encourages all staff to take part in ‘Be The Difference’ days, where they can take a day’s paid leave to support a cause or charity which is important to them.

Laura Wallace, Technical Project Coordinator in the Offshore Delivery team, was among those who took part in the Beauly clean-up organised through the Community Liaison team. She said:

“It was great to get into the community and help improve the area for residents – our efforts were very well received by people who stopped to thank us for the work we were doing, and who kindly offered us water to help us cool off.

“It was a great way to spend the day helping the community and bonding as a team, and we’re looking forward to planning similar events in future.”
