Safety and Operational Excellence

Our commitment to safety remains central, guided by our ‘if it’s not safe, we don’t do it’ safety licence. We continue to promote a safe and inclusive workplace, and this year achieved 95% of the available ‘Energy Not Supplied’ (ENS) incentive, remaining on track to meet our target of 100% network reliability.

Delivering Key Infrastructure

Our capital investment programme has made significant progress, including increasing the capacity of the north east transmission network to 400kV and energising the Shetland HVDC link. These projects are critical in enabling the transition to a low-carbon economy, with the installed capacity of renewables on our network nearing 10GW.

Pathway to 2030

Looking ahead, our Pathway to 2030 programme will see over £20bn invested in unlocking Scotland’s clean energy potential. This investment is vital to achieving UK and Scottish Government clean energy targets and will support thousands of jobs.

Refreshing Our Sustainability Strategy

In 2024, we launched a refreshed Sustainability Strategy that enhances our strengths in climate action, nature protection, and community benefits. In 2023/24, we achieved sector-leading performance in SF6 leakage targets, more than 50% below target. We also brought forward our Biodiversity Net Gain commitment, ensuring all new projects deliver at least 10% net gain.

Driving Innovation and Efficiency

Innovation remains at the heart of our work, and we continue to drive efficiencies, targeting £100m in savings that will benefit electricity consumers.

Our 2023/24 report reaffirms our commitment to leading the clean energy transition and delivering a network for net zero.
