Lochgilphead Golf Club has received a £1600 funding boost from SSEN Transmission, with the company helping raise money for clubhouse repairs by sponsoring the club’s annual Open tournament held recently.

The donation to the community golf club in Argyll came courtesy of SSEN Transmission’s Argyll substations project, a collection of four new 275kV substations that will be constructed to help meet the expected increase in renewable energy generation in Argyll.

Commenting on the donation, Raymond Flanagan, from Lochgilphead Golf Club, said:
“We were delighted to receive this funding from SSEN Transmission – its sponsorship of our annual club Open event has assisted our fundraising efforts, helping us carry out vital repairs to our clubhouse roof while also helping pay for a new flag.

“Our golf club is a well-known hub for the local community and welcomes many visitors each year from home and abroad. We pride ourselves in the quality of our facilities, so the funding will be put to good use to help us maintain this valuable community asset.”
